DBasia.news – One of Manchester United’s stars, Scott McTominay also commented on Manchester United wanting to bring in Frankie de Jong. Manchester United have not signed him due to difficulties, even though Manchester United and Barcelona have agreed on a price.
De Jong was promoted to be one of Manchester United’s main targets ahead of the 2022-2023 season. This is a special request from the new manager, Erik ten Hag.
Ten Hag plans to make De Jong a new mainstay in Manchester United’s midfield. Both seemed eager to repeat the sweet memories at Ajax Amsterdam.
But Manchester United’s journey to sign De Jong is winding. A number of offers from the Red Devils were rejected by Barcelona as the owner of De Jong.
Now the two clubs reportedly have reached an agreement related to the transfer price which reached 85 million euros. But this did not automatically make Manchester United manage to secure De Jong’s service.
The Dutch national player is in fact still hesitant to move to Manchester United. The two parties have yet to reach a personal agreement.
The situation is getting more complicated after Barcelona officials have now confirmed that De Jong is not for sale. The 25-year-old player is even scheduled to join El Barca’s pre-season tour.
McTominay certainly knows Manchester United’s insistence on signing De Jong. The arrival of the player can also have an impact on his playing time.
But McTominay was not at all bothered by rumors of De Jong’s transfer. He focused on bringing out the best in his ability to steal Ten Hag’s attention.
“There will probably be four, five, six other people who come to this club, but I can’t comment on who is in or what personnel will come because that’s none of my business,” McTominay said at a press conference at the inauguration of Manchester United’s second jersey of the season. 2022-2023.
“I know that whoever come in, we will really give our best to make sure that they feel welcome. Obviously they (the new players) will help us develop into a better team, which I’m sure they will.”
McTominay has so far been trusted to start in the two Manchester United pre-season matches that have been undertaken. He redeemed that belief with a goal against Melbourne Victory.
