Seeing Jurgen Klopp vs Thomas Tuchel Meeting, Who Is Better?
By db-admin
DBasia.news – The 2021-2022 FA Cup Final will take place this weekend at Wembley, on Saturday (14/05) at 22:45 WIB. The big game will bring together two English giants, Chelsea and Liverpool who are ambitious to win a quadruple (four) titles this season.
The FA Cup for Chelsea is the only way to finish the season well, having failed to defend the Champions League title but managed to win the European Super Cup and Club World Cup.
Moreover, Chelsea is in the spotlight with a good squad depth but failed to compete in the Premier League, against Liverpool and Man City. Meanwhile for Liverpool the FA Cup is the road to a quadruple after winning the League Cup, as well as competing in the Champions League and Premier League.
Past Meeting
Talking about the meeting between Liverpool and Chelsea, cannot be separated from the figure of the coach at the two clubs, namely Thomas Tuchel and Jurgen Klopp. Both are in the category of success with their respective clubs in terms of trophy achievements.
Tuchel has even coached Chelsea since January 2021, while Klopp has coached Liverpool for longer since 2015. Comparing the two records is quite interesting to discuss. Here’s Klopp and Tuchel’s head to head quoted from the PA News Agency.
Coaching Style
Klopp and Tuchel were students of the gegenpressing that was originally coined by Ralf Rangnick. Klopp combines an intense style of play with high pressing to win the ball, possession and then a quick counter-attack.
That has also been combined with possession since Thiago Alcantara came to Liverpool. While Tuchel focuses more on ball possession, gaps in the opponent’s defense, and attacks from the wings in his mainstay three defender tactics.
The first meeting between the two came in 2009 when Tuchel, who is still in charge of Mainz, played out a goalless draw against Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund. Klopp and Dortmund have won seven of 10 meetings against Tuchel in Germany.
The situation changed because Klopp’s Liverpool were unable to win against Chelsea in three meetings over the past year. But heading into the League Cup final in February, Klopp’s side are still ahead with nine wins from 17 meetings, with Chelsea winning just three.
The League Cup final did not produce a winner as the match ended in a draw and Liverpool won 11-10 on penalties.
Trophy
Liverpool’s success in winning the League Cup puts the two managers at the same level in terms of career trophies, 10 trophies. Klopp won the Bundesliga twice, the DFB Pokal and the DFL Super Cup twice while managing Dortmund.
That was added to the Premier League, Champions League, European Super Cup, Club World Cup and League Cup titles while coaching Liverpool.
Tuchel meanwhile won the DFB Pokal in 2017 with Dortmund, as well as winning six trophies with PSG. In his short time at Chelsea Tuchel won the Champions League, Club World Cup and European Super Cup.
