Sergio Reguilon Joins Tottenham Hotspur
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Tottenham Hotspur won the competition with Manchester United in an attempt to sign left-back, Sergio Reguilon from Real Madrid for 28 million pounds (36 million dollars).
The Red Devils have previously been linked with the 23-year-old player, but the Premier League club never made a formal offer as they had rejected Los Blancos’ request to include a buy-back clause.
Reguilon had an unsatisfactory season in 2018/19, with only 22 appearances for Real Madrid in various competitions and 14 in La Liga.
This has made Reguilon finally be loaned to Sevilla in the 2019/20 season, with a record of 38 appearances in various competitions and scoring three goals. The Spanish player has made 31 appearances in La Liga last season, scoring two goals.
Reguilon was said to have performed quite well at Sevilla, helping the Spanish club win the Europa League. He also had the opportunity to enter the squad for the Spanish national team.
Thanks to his slick performance, Reguilon was attracted by Tottenham. Jose Mourinho seems to think that the full-back can be relied on to bring the club to the title in this 2020/21 season.
Reguilon’s official transfer announcement almost coincided with the certainty of Gareth Bale’s return to Spurs, who also joined from the Santiago Bernabeu.
“I really like the philosophy of the club and the coach, these are the things that made me want to come here,” Reguilon said on the club’s official website after confirming his arrival.
“The desire to grow, the vision of the club and I want to grow as a player. Tottenham has world class players and a world class manager. I can’t wait to start working with him on my first day.”
“I saw the training facilities, they are amazing. I think I am now in the toughest league in the world, the most challenging. I talked a lot with [Gareth] Bale, about everything; the club, the city, the new stadium and I can’t wait to start with my colleagues. “
