Serie A might lose their prestige after losing a lot of star players

DBasia.news – Serie A has lost a number of star players in the transfer market this summer. These conditions might make the number one competition in Italy lose their prestige.

It took a long time for Serie A to return to the highest caste of world football competition. Serie A began to rise after the case of Calciopoli which injured the competition.

However, in the midst of rising competition tensions, Serie A felt the next blow. A number of star players chose to leave this summer.

The first star who chose to leave was Gianluigi Donnarumma. The goalkeeper headed to Paris Saint-Germain after failing to reach a new contract agreement with AC Milan. In fact, Milan did not receive anything as Donnarumma left on a free transfer.

Next, PSG brought in Inter Milan wing-back, Achraf Hakimi. Inter was interested after Les Parisiens offered 60 million euros plus a potential bonus of up to 11 million euros.

Even the best defender in Serie A last season, Cristian Romero, is no longer working in Italy. Atalanta sold the Argentina international player to Tottenham Hotspur for 50 million euros.

Not only big teams, clubs of Udinese’s caliber also lost their star players. Rodrigo de Paul, who has played for Udinese since 2016, continued his career at Atletico Madrid. Reportedly, the 27-year-old midfielder’s transfer value reached 35 million euros.

Most recently, Serie A has the opportunity to lose its star player, Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian national team striker is said to be returning to Chelsea. Inter as the owner will receive 115 million euros.

The series of transfers above cannot be separated from the economic condition of the declining Serie A club. They are forced to sell or release their star players in order to keep the club from going bankrupt.

Inevitably, Serie A has the opportunity to lag behind the Premier League from a number of aspects. In fact, Ligue 1 began to threaten if PSG could sign Lionel Messi.
