DBasia.news – Simon Mignolet was rumored to be leaving Liverpool since the arrival of Alisson Becker from AS Roma last year. Responding to the rumors, Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager, believes Mignolet will not leave Anfield.
Klopp claimed to have spoken to the 31-year-old goalkeeper. In the midst of the situation, according to Klopp, Mignolet will remain at the club he has strengthened from 2013. Moreover, Klopp needed him after releasing Loris Karius and Danny Ward.
“Yes. (From what) I have heard (Mignolet) will stay.) (Klopp and Mignolet) have spoke a lot in recent years, months,” Klopp said, as quoted by Goal.
“Before we left (for the summer), we had a conversation, I would say yes (Mignolet stayed at Liverpool). At a club like Liverpool you need two ‘number ones’. At least, at the club.
“And we have it, this is good, with Ally and Simon. It’s a very good situation for the club, one situation that I think you should have, and that’s why everything is fine in my opinion,” Klopp explained.
Recently, Mignolet appeared for 81 minutes when Liverpool won 3-1 over Bradford City in the preseason test match.
