DBasia.news – Stadio Olimpico saw the host’s goal party, AS Roma, against his opponent Sassuolo in the continuation of the Serie A match on Sunday (9/15) evening Western Indonesian Time. Roma won with a score of 4-2.
A stunning first-half performance was the foundation of victory for Paulo Fonseca’s team, when Bryan Cristante, Edin Dzeko, Mkhitaryan, and Justin Kluivert scored before the break.
Domenico Berardi scored two goals in the second half – one through a free-kick and another through a counter-attack situation – to open Sassuolo’s hopes in the match, even though they were never really able to equalize or even turn things around.
Roma will return to play at the Olimpico on Thursday when Istanbul Basaksehir visits in the first match of the Europa League group phase.
The performance in the second half is proof that there are still things that need to be improved, but the performance in the first round at least makes fans excited about where the team will go. Rome looked almost unstoppable, dominating Sassuolo freely.
The Giallorossi could get a penalty in the first 100 seconds of the match – but the VAR changed the referee’s decision. However, Cristante managed to take advantage of the corner kick situation to score Roma’s first goal in this fight.
A flat cross from Kolarov then allowed Dzeko to score the second goal, before Lorenzo Pellegrini – scored his second assist of the night with a measured pass that was successfully exploited by Mkhitaryan.
Pellegrini then broke open the Sassuolo defense via a precision pass to allow Kluivert to run and score Roma’s fourth goal, Pellegrini managed to create three assists in this match.
After the break, Roma continued to look determined – the team again created a threat with a shot that hit the post twice in the first five minutes of the second half, but the Giallorossi slowly got resistance from Sassuolo.
Roma finally won despite a revenge goal from Berardi, continuing the team’s unbeaten start to the season and creating their first win.
