DBasia.news – Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is quite pessimistic that his team can catch Manchester City in the hunt for the Premier League title. In fact, the Red Devils have just stopped their city rivals undefeated record.

Man United won the Manchester Derby in the Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday (07/03) evening WIB with a score of 2-0 through a penalty from Bruno Fernandes and Luke Shaw. The result ended City’s undefeated 21 games.

Harry Maguire and his team mates cut the distance to 11 points after the victory and are still ‘alive’ in the race for the league title. However, Solskjaer thinks the distance is too far and it is difficult for his team to catch Pep Guardiola’s City.

“We only take one game at a time. City were too far ahead for us to think we can catch them. Last year we were chasing 15 points with Leicester, but City is a different proposition,” Solskjaer said as quoted by Goal.

“Today they even put us under high pressure so you can see we are playing against a great team.”

“When you come home with a 2-0 win and other clean sheets and a performance like this, then you will be happy,” added the Norwegian manager.

11 points adrift and chasing them in the remaining Premier League matches is not impossible. However, seeing that City’s performance is consistent with playing momentum, solid defense, and good attacking power.

It is only a matter of time before City regains victory and are hard to beat. The defeat from Man United which means losing three points can still be won again if consistent in the following matches.

Moreover, Man United can still drop points in subsequent matches. The moment to overtake City’s position can occur if The Citizens lose or lose points in a row in one or two moments, then Man United consistently wins three points.

Apart from focusing on the league, the two teams still participate in Europe. Man City faced Borussia Monchengladbach in the top 16 of the Champions League and Man United against AC Milan in the top 16 of the Europa League.
