Solskjaer Reveals the Failure to Bring in Erling Haaland’s to Man United

DBasia.news –  Before the 2020 winter transfer window opened, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Manchester United was reportedly the foremost team to be able to bring in the talented young player from Norway, Erling Haaland. According to the Red Devil legend, Haaland failed to head to United as the club did not want any big control from the agent, Mino Raiola.

Having being linked with Manchester United in the transfer market this winter, Haaland (19 years old) actually anchored to Borussia Dortmund from RB Leipzig. Judging by the player’s confession, he claimed to have moved to Dortmund because of his personal wishes.

“They just went straight in and said, ‘We need you up front, we like your playing style and we want you to be here’,” Haaland said some time ago.

“I liked how they talked to me at the time and that’s what triggered me (joining Dortmund). I just feel that Dortmund and I are the right partner.”

But a different version emerged from Solskjaer. The Norwegian manager assesses that United has failed to recruit Haaland because of financial matters, not because he was refused by Haaland. Solskjaer even bluntly spoke about the involvement of the player’s agent in determining whether or not the transfer of the club was realized.

“It is important for us to use common sense,” Solskjaer said, as quoted by Goal.

“There are other things too when you recruit players, that you have to stay in control. You can’t give an agent control by giving purchase clauses and things like that.”

“It has already been discussed, just like that for me, we must be in control,” Solskjaer stressed.

Different confessions continued to emerge from Raiola to The Telegraph. According to the agent who also handled Paul Pogba, Man United spoke the most intensely to Haaland and the player preferred Dortmund.

“I don’t know if Manchester United explained this, but if they do that they will cover their own losses and I find it strange to see and disappointing,” Raiola said.

“The club that has the most direct contact with him is United. Clearly he felt that at this moment it was not the right step in his career. There are no feelings for Manchester United or Ole. “

“If he wants to head to Manchester United I will be obliged to bring him to Manchester United, but he doesn’t. It’s not a matter of economics. It’s just that the player chose Borussia Dortmund at this stage of his career,” concluded Raiola.

Without a new striker coming so far, Man United have only two attackers who are in good condition: Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood. As Marcus Rashford ihad been injured and the club also does not have a replacement for Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez.
