DBasia.news – Raphael Varane marked his Manchester United debut with a 1-0 win over Wolverhampton. Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was satisfied with Varane’s performance.
The French centre-back was brought in by Manchester United from Real Madrid after being redeemed in a deal that reached 41 million pounds. However, Varane has only appeared in Manchester United’s third match in the Premier League after only being a substitute in the 1-1 draw with Southampton.
Solskjaer played Varane as a starter when the Red Devils traveled to the Molineux Stadium, Sunday (29/8/2021). The 2018 World Cup winner was a duet with captain Harry Maguire to guard the heart of the MU defense.
Summarized by Squawka, Raphael Varane made 74 touches on the ball, three clearances, three ball wins, one tackle and one chance in 90 minutes of play. Even better, Varane played an important role in the occurrence of MU’s winning goal after his pass was completed by Mason Greenwood in the 80th minute.
“It was a top performance,” said Solskjaer after the game quoted by Metro.
“It’s a welcome in the Premier League. The tempo, the frenzy, the tackles, the need to defend, the counter-attacks.”
“He is good in the air, he is very calm with the ball, he is very experienced and nothing affects him,” said the manager.
“He was good in the dressing room before the game and at half-time. I am happy with him, I think he has shown his class. He has everything as a centre-back so I am happy with his performance,” Solskjaer added of Varane’s debut form.
