Solskjr’s Fault, Harry Maguire Is Too Soon to be Captain

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Former Manchester United player, Paul Parker, assesses Harry Maguire does not have the ability to lead. Therefore, he felt that Maguire’s appointment as captain of the Red Devils was wrong.

Manchester United brought Harry Maguire from Leicester City in the 2019 summer transfer market. The Red Devils made Maguire one of the most expensive defenders thanks to a transfer reaching 80 million pounds.

Six months later, Maguire immediately won the trust as captain. Previously, he had carried out the task at The Foxes.

However, Solskjaer’s decision invites various criticisms. Maguire is considered not fit to be the leader of Man United. Moreover, there are a number of senior players like David de Gea who are seen as more fitting.

This time, Maguire has again received a number of highlights related to his performance at the Man United back line. One of the most recent was when Maguire failed to block Atalanta striker Duvan Zapata’s chances for a goal.

The unimpressive appearance also revealed an old issue, namely the appointment of Maguire as captain. Paul Parker feels, Maguire is not the time to lead Manchester United.

“Manchester United was too quick to give the captaincy to Harry Maguire. It surprised many people. It didn’t make sense and it didn’t fit right from the start,” Parker explained as reported by the Express.

“For the captaincy, it’s not about who is the most expensive player, but who is the best in the team. Everything is more than that.”

“Maguire is not the right player to be captain of Manchester United at this time. Maguire needs to improve a lot of things in his game,” said Parker.

Harry Maguire is predicted to be the captain of Manchester United when he hosts Manchester City in the 11th Premier League match of 2021-2022, at Old Trafford Stadium, Saturday (6/11). The Red Devils need three points to continue to get closer to the top flight.
