DBasia.news – Racism has returned to English football. Tottenham Hotspur’s player, Son Heung-min, has became a victim of irresponsible people. The player has received racist attacks on social media.
Son Heung-min was involved in a controversial incident in the first half of Tottenham Hotspur’s duel against Manchester United. The Red Devils goal scored by Edinson Cavani was disallowed using VAR as there was a foul on Son first.
A few minutes after the incident, Son Heung-min then opened the scoring for The Lilywhites. However, in the end it was Manchester United who won 3-1 after Fred, Cavani and Mason Greenwood scored.
Apparently, the events of the first half did not have a happy ending for Son. He received racist attacks. Son became an easy target as he came from Asia.
“Today was another match and the more disgusting racial abuse suffered by one of our players,” wrote Tottenham in an official statement.
“This has once again been reported to the platform and we will now carry out a full review with the Premier League to determine the most effective action. We support you, Sonny,” continued Tottenham.
Not the first
Previously, there were also racial attacks on football players, especially in the Premier League. In recent times, Willian, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Naby Keita, Raheem Sterling, and Jude Bellingham have been targeted.
In fact, taking one further glance, Anthony Martial, Axel Tuanzebe, and Reece James were also among the ranks of victims.
Various ways have been done, including steps taken by Swansea City, namely boycotting social media for one week after three of their players experienced racism.
