DBasia.news – The result of Southampton’s match against Arsenal ended for the visitors’ victory. The Southampton vs Arsenal match ended 3-1 to win for the Gunners.
In the match that took place at St. Petersburg Mary’s Stadium, Wednesday (27/1) am, WIB, Arsenal were able to beat the host by a score of 3-1. Even though they had just lost to their opponent and in the same place three days earlier in the FA Cup.
Southampton actually started the game well. Stuart Armstrong was able to break into Bernd Leno’s goal when the game was three minutes in.
But that glorious start was in vain because Arsenal only needed five minutes to equalize. Nicolas Pepe listed his name on the scoreboard after receiving a pass from Granit Xhaka.
After equalizing, Arsenal became more confident. Mikel Arteta’s team was able to reduce the aggressiveness of the Southampton players who were quite troublesome.
Arsenal were finally able to reverse the position in the 39th minute. Alexandre Lacazette’s ball was calmly finished by Bukayo Saka and the score was 2-1 for the visitors’ lead to last until the interval.
After halftime, Southampton tried hard to equalize. Armstrong tried to steal another goal early in the first half, although Leno’s effort was thwarted.
In the 66th minute, Southampton continued to threaten Arsenal’s goal through Dany Ings’ individual action. But Leno again became a solid wall under the goal.
Despite playing under pressure, Arsenal were able to score their third goal in this match. Bukayo Saka’s bait from the right side was able to be finished by Lacazette with a cheat when the game entered the 72nd minute.
The goal seemed to undermine Southampton’s spirit to equalize. Proven score of 3-1 for Arsenal’s victory finally lasted until the game was over.
The victory over Southampton brought Arsenal up to eighth. They are now only five points away from the Champions League zone.
