DBasia.news – Southampton midfielder, Moussa Djenepo thinks he can surpass Sadio Mane’s ability if he mimics his performance at Liverpool. Moussa Djenepo was recruited by Southampton from the elite Belgian club, Standard Leige, in the summer of 2019 with a transfer value of 14 million pounds (around Rp248 billion).

This season, Djenepo has packed two goals and two assists. This record has dragged his name to the ranks of the best winger Southampton has ever had, one of which is Sadio Mane.

But Djenepo felt overwhelmed that he could surpass Sadio Mane, who in fact he also admired for his greatness.

“Sadio Mane is a big inspiration for me. “I like him, he’s a really great player, but I think I can be better (than he is) if I work hard,” Moussa Djenepo said as quoted by Sports Mail.

“He is a great player. I am still young and just learning more. We will see later. I will do my best to become the next incarnation of Sadio Mane, “he stated.

It should be noted, the club’s south coast region of England was once strengthened by Sadio Mane in the 2014-2016 period. For two seasons, the Senegalese striker recorded 25 goals and 14 assists for 75 appearances in all competitions.

Mane then decided to move from Southampton to Liverpool in the summer of 2016 at a price of 34 million pounds. At that time Mane became the fifth Southampton player to join Liverpool since the summer of 2014 after Adam Lallana, Dejan Lovren, Rickie Lambert and Nathaniel Clyne.

Since the first season, Mane has been impressive. Until now he has packed 77 goals and 34 assists in 161 appearances in all competitions with Liverpool.

His incision has made him one of the strongest players in the Premiere League. Last season, he even managed to obtain the Golden boot for 22 goals scored in the Premiere League with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Mohamed Salah.

Mane will continue to show his greatness when the Premiere League resumes on June 17. He will help Liverpool face Everton in postponed matches.

This match is important because they need additional points to secure the status of the title. Liverpool currently topped the Premiere League standings with 82 points, 25 points ahead of nearest rivals, Manchester City. On the other hand, Southampton is ranked 14th (34 points).
