Speculation about Ronald Koeman’s Future at Barcelona Begins to Be Answered
By db-admin
DBasia.news – The puzzle regarding Ronald Koeman’s future as Barcelona coach is starting to be answered. The Dutchman looks like he will still handle the Blaugrana next season.
Rumors of Koeman’s dismissal have colored the news in the past week. The president of Barcelona, Joan Laporta, is said to be dissatisfied with the performance shown by Lionel Messi and his friends throughout the 2020-2021 season.
A number of coaches such as Xavi Hernandez to Hansi Flick have been linked with Barcelona. But the rumors started to die down.
An affirmation was then conveyed by Koeman’s agent, Rob Jansen. He admitted that he had confirmed his client’s future to Laporta in a meeting.
“There was a positive atmosphere during the meeting and I personally left feeling good. There is mutual respect,” Jansen told De Telegraaf.
“There is even a positive feeling that Ronald might last longer (from the 2021-2022 season). But we haven’t gotten that far yet and more talks will follow.”
Keeping Koeman is a realistic option for Barcelona. With their unstable financial condition, they will find it difficult to bring in a coach with a big name.
In addition, Koeman also doesn’t need to adapt anymore because he has handled Barcelona for one season. He just needs to fix a number of shortcomings to restore the glory of El Barca.
Barcelona will soon have three quality players coming for free, namely Eric Garcia, Sergio Aguero and Georginio Wijnaldum. The presence of the three can change Barcelona’s fortunes next season.
