DBasia.news – AC Milan coach, Stefano Pioli, sent a warning to the leader of the standings, Inter Milan. Pioli insists that the Scudetto competition is still wide open.
Having previously defeated Napoli, Milan are back to their winning ways. Visiting Empoli headquarters, the Rossoneri took home three points after winning with a score of 4-2.
With these results, Milan kept their distance with Inter who lead the standings. The Rossoneri are four points adrift of their younger brother.
“When you lose some key players with certain characteristics, you will struggle. The most important thing is to stay competitive with the top teams,” Pioli told Sky Sports.
“After all, we were the leader of the table in the last half of the season, but in the end failed to get the Scudetto. So, the road is still wide open.”
Indeed, Milan had long been at the top of the standings this season. However, Il Diavolo Rosso started to slow down and was inconsistent.
“The aim is to keep improving. We have 66 points in the first season and 79 in the second. The target is to do better. We reached the mid-stage with fewer points than last season. However, I have to believe we can finish with more.”
Pioli did not forget to thank the Milan supporters. Pioli hopes to give his best in 2022.
“I want to thank the fans and wish them a Merry Christmas as they support us with great passion. We hope to do even better in 2022.”
