Steven Gerrard gave a surprising answer when asked to join Manchester United

DBasia.news – Gary Neville admitted to having persuaded Steven Gerrard to join Manchester United while playing. But he received a surprising answer from the Liverpool legend.
Gerrard has become a symbol of Liverpool. He was an original product of the academy who evolved into a star and captain for the Reds.
This fact did not dampen Neville’s intention to make Gerrard’s stance waver. The task in the England national team became his momentum to carry out this mission.
Neville did not explain in detail when it happened. But he got the answer he didn’t want.
“With Steven (Gerrard) it’s a full attack. I want him out of there (Liverpool),” Neville told Sky Sports.
“To be fair, Stevie replied that his Family and him would never be able to return to Liverpool again (if he moved to Man United). It was a very short conversation.”
Gerrard’s refusal and reasons make sense because Liverpool and Manchester United have a long rivalry. A move to Old Trafford would see him branded a traitor and anger the Red Merseyside fans.
But Neville said Gerrard had not considered his offer at all. In fact, John Terry had also tried a similar temptation and got a better response.
“He (Gerrard) is very loyal and a Liverpool fan. John Terry maybe got about ten minutes (conversation) with him, but I got about 30 seconds,” he added.
Gerrard was not the only star who persuaded Neville to move to Manchester United. Alan Shearer and Wayne Rooney have also received similar offers.
“There were two or three times it happened in the England national team, where I spoke to Alan Shearer during Euro 1996. You know, I spoke to him,” said Neville again.
“I was younger at the time so couldn’t have a serious conversation with him. With Wayne Rooney, we chatted a bit but he is a younger player so can’t put too much pressure on him.”
