Sturridge’s Last Chance with Liverpool

DBasia.news – Daniel Sturridge, one of the Europe professional football players with the nickname: the fragile striker. This is due to his excellent talent and quality but often gets injured.

The British striker has been playing for Liverpool since 2013 until now. But, during the last 5 years, his impressive performance just happened in the 2013/2014 season when he became the deadly duo of the front line with Luis Suarez.

Sturridge scored 21 goals in Premier League and healthy enough the whole season. After that, he became easily injured. As a result, Sturridge failed to show his best performance.

The same thing happened last season. Liverpool expected Sturridge to find his best performance by loaning him to West Bromwich Albion (WBA). However, he seldom played and failed to help West Brom from the degradation.

Now, Sturridge is on his last year with Liverpool. Probably the 2018/2019 season would be his last chance to prove his quality and doesn’t get injured.

Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool manager, indicated to give him the opportunity to play, though the front line is filled with previous key players: Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino, and Mohamed Salah.

“Who doubts Daniel Sturridge when he is fit? I don’t. He is an outstanding player, hopefully, he can stay fit and then the future is bright. He is still young enough, it’s not that he is 30-something,” Klopp said.

“He is experienced as well and has this kind of natural arrogance that you need on the pitch, so you don’t always start anew if something doesn’t work, that you are out of the game for 10 minutes. That was really good. I’m fine with him, 100 percent,” he said quoted by Telegraph.

Sturridge isn’t the only player with new contract ends next year. Besides him, there is also Ragnar Klavan and Alberto Moreno. Similar to Sturridge, both of them have to impress Klopp to get a new contract from Liverpool.
