Szczesny Admits He’s Uncomfortable with Allegri’s Style of Play
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Wojciech Szczesny performed brilliantly when Juventus beat Cagliari 2-0 in the 2021-2022 Serie A continuation. Even so, he is not comfortable with Massimiliano Allegri’s style of play.
The match, which took place at the Allianz Stadium, Wednesday (12/22), could have ended in a draw if Szczesny did not perform well under the Juventus crossbar. He did make a number of brilliant saves to prevent Cagliari from rising.
One of Szczesny’s brilliant saves was made in the 68th minute. He spectacularly parried Joao Pedro’s header from close range.
The result of the match could have been different had that moment led to a goal from Cagliari. The visitors will be more motivated to score the next goals.
This is what makes Szczesny uncomfortable. He considered Juventus to appear too passive when they were ahead.
“We are working hard, but I think we still have a lot to improve, both in defense and up front. Sometimes at 1-0 we relax and sit too deep,” Szczesny told DAZN.
“That’s not good in the long run. We played arrogantly in that situation and I didn’t like it.”
“This has happened many times, including in Venice when we conceded goals. We sat too deep in the second half, we couldn’t keep the intensity level down for 10-15 minutes every time.”
Szczesny’s criticism has a point. The mentality of the Juventus players seemed disturbed after conceding.
Szczesny’s criticism should be a valuable input for Allegri. The coach is still trying to find the right formula to maximize Juventus’ potential.
