Targeted by Many Clubs, Napoli refuses to decrease Kalidou Koulibaly’s value

DBasia.news – Napoli reportedly refuses to reduce value transfer of Kalidou Koulibaly. This at the same time have dispelled Manchester United’s opportunity to obtain the services of the player at a more affordable price in the upcoming transfer market.
Red Devils have been monitoring Koulibaly’s situation in Napoli and wanted to take advantage of the financial condition of football clubs due to the corona virus pandemic and trying to bring in the Senegalese national team defender at a discounted price.
Clubs across Europe are affected financially as the competition had to postponed and many clubs are forced to sell their star players to balance finance this summer.
Koulibaly had previously spoke with Napoli regarding the possibility of leaving the Serie A giants this summer when a bigger club approached.
However, Napoli’s sporting director, Cristiano Giuntoli insisted his club would not lower the price of Koulibaly, who reached 100 million pounds (around Rp1, 76 trillion).
The 28-year-old defender contract is currently in effect until 2023.
“Kalidou is a great player, who still has a long contract with us,” Giuntoli said as quoted by Mirror on Monday (6/8).
“If we sell him, the club can ask for a large amount. A player like this does not change in value even in a crisis, so we will not lower our judgment.”
Koulibaly is one of the most popular defenders in Europe after winning the Serie A Best Defender Player award in 2018/19.
Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is an admirer of the former Belgian club Genk.
The Norwegian manager wants to pair Koulibaly with Harry Maguire, who became the most expensive defender in the world when brought from Leicester worth 80 million pounds to United last summer.
However, the Red Devils has lost revenues of £ 28 million due to the COVID-19 pandemic and does not plan to break the transfer record again.
Koulibaly has made 21 appearances this season with a thigh injury and was last played when Napoli lost 2-3 to Lecce in February.
