DBasia.news – The Danish national team stepped into the semifinal phase of the 2020 European Cup. Team Dynamite presented this success to the star, Christian Eriksen.
Denmark met the Czech Republic at the Baku Olympic Stadium, Azerbaijan, Saturday (3/7/2021) evening WIB, in the Euro 2020 quarter-finals. Simon Kjaer and his team mates were two goals ahead in the first half via Thomas Delaney’s goal in the fifth minute, and Kasper Dolberg (42nd).
The Czech Republic responded through Patrik Schick’s goal in the 49th minute. Denmark was able to maintain the lead and ended the match with a 2-1 win over The Locomotive.
This victory also brought Denmark to the top four of the 2020 European Cup. The Dynamite team last made it to the semifinals, namely in 1992, when they managed to bring home the Henri Delauney trophy.
The success of Denmark in heading to the semifinals was greeted positively by the team coach, Kasper Hjulmand. He dedicated his team’s victory to Christian Eriksen, the Danish star who is still recovering after suffering a heart attack in the match against Finland.
“I think about Christian every day, he should be here. We are happy that he is safe,” Hjulmand said, quoted by the BBC.
“We brought him into this game and all the way to Wembley. I think about him all the time. We all understand that football values can emerge, and maybe we are a symbol of that. I couldn’t be happier than that.”
“The team showed it without being told, ‘this is how you have to act’. It’s amazing to see how this team reacted, how much love and care they have for each other and for the Danish people.”
“We are just happy and proud. We may be able to remind ourselves why we love football and what football can do in the world.”
The Danish national team will face a tough opponent, namely England, in the semifinal phase of the 2020 European Cup. The match will be held at Wembley Stadium, Thursday (8/7).
