The difficulty of beating Liverpool in the Premier League

By db-admin

DBasia.news – During the inaugural match of the Premier League 2022-2023, Liverpool were only able win one point. But the Reds are increasingly showing that they are a hard team to beat.

Liverpool drew 2-2 when they traveled to Fulham’s headquarters at Craven Cottage, Saturday (6/8). But Jurgen Klopp’s side could have had worse results having fallen behind twice.

Fulham surprisingly took the lead through Aleksandar Mitrovic’s header in the 32nd minute. The promotion team was able to maintain their lead until the first half was over.

Liverpool tried to get up in the second half. Darwin Nunez who appeared as a substitute equalized in the 64th minute.

But Fulham again made a surprise by scoring the second goal. The Cottagers were awarded a penalty which was eventually converted into a goal by Mitrovic.

It was at this moment that Liverpool showed their winning mentality. Mohamed Salah managed to make it level again just ten minutes before normal time ended.

“I know we can win the game, but it won’t make our performance any better. I’m happy for the punishment we received by dropping two points,” Klopp told the club’s official website.

“We can all see it differently. But again, the most positive thing is the result.”

According to data from Opta, Liverpool have secured 115 points from falling behind in the Premier League since Klopp took over as manager in October 2015. No other team in that period has accumulated more points when going behind in a game.

This is proof that Klopp’s Liverpool have a winning mentality. This became a valuable asset for Jordan Henderson and his team to win the trophy.
