The Dortmund vs Bayern Munich Match Is More Exciting than El Clasico

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge stated that his club’s match against Borussia Dortmund was of higher quality than the El Clasico duel between Barcelona and Real Madrid.

Bayern won four of their last five matches against Dortmund, with the two teams sharing 17 goals in the encounter.

Compared to the last five El Clasico games, which have yielded only ten goals, but with two wins and a draw each, the rivalry of the two Spanish giants has become more evenly matched.

Currently, Bayern top the German Bundesliga standings with 22 points from nine matches, while Dortmund are fourth with only four points behind their rivals.

“It becomes a Klassiker,” Rummenigge told Bundesliga.com of the match.

“We all looked at Spain with a bit of jealousy when Real and Barca faced each other in Spain’s El Clasico, but I think now Dortmund-Bayern are Klassikers themselves.”

“I think we saw that recently when we played, a very good game, 3-2, it could be 5-4 looking at all the opportunities.”

“It was a very good match, and the day after that, I thought it was Real vs Barca, and it was not comparable in terms of quality. So, you could say the Bundesliga version is one level above at the moment.”

Bayern and Dortmund have been praised for their work in the transfer market in recent years, although they have taken different approaches to building their squad.

Bayern’s dominance in 2019/20, after Hansi Flick took over from Niko Kovac, looks tough to beat, but with the arrival of Leroy Sane from Manchester City, they are looking even stronger.

“At this time, when the finances are also tight, I think we have a good transfer window,” said Rummenigge again.

“Without a doubt, we lost an important player to Thiago, but that was his wish and, among the friends, you have to be able to give them a chance to say goodbye, and you have to do that. I think we handled it well from our side.”

“We signed players who were very important to Leroy Sane, but then the coach also wanted to replace the missing loan players, [Philippe] Coutinho and [Ivan] Perisic, and in the end we decided on [Douglas] Costa and Leroy. We brought in two wingers that can provide the quality we need.”
