DBasia.news – The Italian national team celebrated the success of winning the 2020 European Cup with great fanfare. Parades around the city of Rome and a visit to the Italian presidential palace became the main agenda.

Italy emerged as champions after beating England on penalties in the final at Wembley Stadium last weekend. Gli Azzurri also successfully won their second trophy in this tournament.

Roberto Mancini’s team landed in Rome on Monday (12/7) morning local time. They then immediately carried out a parade with an open bus to greet the fans.

Leonardo Bonucci and his team mates then left for Quirinale Palace to meet the Italian president, Sergio Mattarella. They also showed off the Henri Delaunay trophy to the country’s leader.

On this occasion, Mattarella expressed his congratulations and gratitude to the Italian squad. Several key figures of La Nazionale’s success were also mentioned in particular.

“The Italian national team has created a common bond in these seven games. We have seen the harmony of the team and I want to congratulate him on that,” Mattarella said in his speech.

“I thank (Roberto) Mancini for the trust he has always shown from the start of this adventure. For the revolution to shape the point of view of the game and to prepare for every game.”

“I also want to thank the goalkeeping coach and congratulate (Gianluigi) Donnarumma for being the best player in the European Championship. His rescue made millions of Italians rejoice,” he added.

Italy has indeed succeeded in ending its unlucky curse in the European Cup final. They did have to go home with their heads down on the previous two occasions appearing in the top match.

Interestingly, this success occurred after Italy failed to qualify for the 2018 World Cup finals. An extraordinary revival was shown by one of the football giants.
