The reason why Andrea Agnelli left Juventus presidential position
By db-admin
DBasia.news – It has been a month since Andrea Agnelli left the position of Juventus president, and finally he has opened up regarding his decision.
As is known, the Juventus board of directors suddenly withdrew in unison at the end of last November. Agnelli, who assumed the position of club president, also participated.
Many believe that this decision was taken in the aftermath of the Capital Gain legal case that ensnared Juventus. The Bianconeri have indeed been accused of inflating expenses in the financial statements for the period 2018 to 2020.
However, there are also those who feel that Agnelli’s resignation is an act of turning a deaf ear. He seemed to want to run away from this problem.
“Leaving the presidency was not an easy decision for me. Apart from loving Juve, I have worked hard to achieve great results in recent years both on and off the field,” Agnelli said as quoted by Football Italia.
“I took this decision calmly. I remain convinced of the good work over the years, an opinion which was also confirmed in recent weeks by the analysis of many experts.”
“I think it’s appropriate to take a step back, to avoid that people could even think that the choices and decisions that will be made from now on are conditioned by my personal involvement,” he added.
Agnelli has been president of Juventus since 2010. He has succeeded in restoring the Old Lady’s reputation as a big club after the Calciopoli scandal.
Juventus have now appointed Gianluca Ferrero as the new club president. Agnelli provided support for his successor.
“I wish the next President Ferrero all the best and the new CEO, Scanavino. It is an honor to be the President of Juventus who takes precedence over everything and everyone, Fino Alla Fine.” He concluded.
