The sluggishness of Manchester United at Crystal Palace
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Manchester United failed to achieve full points when they visited Crystal Palace in the 2020-2021 Premier League. The Red Devils appeared sluggish and monotonous
In a match that took place at Selhurst Park, Thursday (4/3) am, WIB, the two teams drew 0-0. Manchester United failed to avenge their defeat in the first meeting.
This is also the third time in a row Manchester United have failed to score in a match. Previously they also played goalless draws against Real Sociedad and Chelsea.
Even so, there are striking differences regarding Manchester United’s performance against Palace. The front line of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s team appeared really blunt.
In the match against Sociedad and Chelsea, Manchester United were able to create many golden opportunities, only the final solution was their problem.
Meanwhile, Manchester United’s attack pattern really lacked creativity in the match against Palace. This can be seen from the number of shots at their goal which was only one.
The only shot at Palace’s goal was taken by Nemanja Matic in the 13th minute. After that, Manchester United failed to pose a significant threat.
Even though in this match Manchester United have again relied on Edinson Cavani on the front lines. However, the Uruguayan striker seemed still trying to find his best performance after recovering from injury.
Manchester United manager, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer admitted the poor performance of his team. However, he was reluctant to blame the players who had struggled on the field.
“Human nature sometimes doesn’t work as well as it can and today we did. There were times in the first half we built up attack and had some decent chances but wasted them,” Solskjaer told Sky Sports.
Then you don’t build momentum and that’s the game you get. We played against good teams and got to play their way. “
Solskjaer on the title race
This draw has made Manchester United fall behind Manchester City at the top of the standings. The two are now separated by 14 points.
With 11 games to go and the rivals’ consistent performances, it’s challenging for Manchester United to win the title. Solskjaer also admitted this.
“It’s certainly not as good as you know. If you want to get to the top of the standings, you have to win,” he concluded.
