The Story of Nabil Fekir Failed to Join Liverpool

By db-admin

DBasia.news – The transfer failure in the player transfer market is one of the things that attracts attention. This is interesting because the public is curious to know the reason for the failure.

Liverpool for example. They once failed to sign French left-back Aly Cissokho due to a tooth problem, but in the end he joined the Reds on loan from Valencia in the 2013-14 season.

Still from Liverpool, the case of the failed transfer was also experienced by French striker Nabil Fekir. When playing at Olympique Lyonnais in the 2013-2019 period after promotion from the academy, Fekir was attracted by many European clubs.

The talent he has ogled Liverpool and other clubs. Packer of 25 caps and two goals it almost joined Liverpool in 2018 from Lyon. Fekir has undergone medical tests.

However, due to health problems related to Fekir’s physical condition, Liverpool did not recruit him. A year later Fekir actually joined Real Betis in LaLiga. Three years passed and Fekir revealed the reason behind his failure.

Fekir’s transfer failure from Lyon to Liverpool did not occur because of physical problems, injuries, to his knees, but problems with management or agents and representatives. Fekir told The Times.

“It (losing to Liverpool) was a dark moment. I saw a lot of things that weren’t true. It says the knee stopped me from going to Liverpool but that’s not true,” said Nabil Fekir.

“I went to Clairefontaine (French football center near Paris), and they did all the (medical) checks and my knee is fine.”

“I had a problem with my agent, my adviser. It was the agent who was responsible for the deal not being reached. Of course I was disappointed not to go to Liverpool, very disappointed because Liverpool is a great club.”

That failure changed Fekir’s career. Without reducing respect for Real Betis, Fekir’s career does not get more attention there, especially in a team that fights in the middle of the table.

The impressive performances he displayed in the 2017-2018 season with Lyon at domestic level were nowhere to be seen. Ironically, Liverpool is no longer targeting 28-year-old players because they already have a good squad quality.
