The Story of the Czech Republic Star, Patrik Schick Was Rejected by Juventus from AS Roma

DBasia.news – Anyone can star in a tournament of the caliber of the European Cup including the one taking place this year. That was done by the Czech Republic striker, Patrik Schick when his team won 2-0 over Scotland.
Schick scored two Czech goals and was voted Man of the Match. The first goal came from a header and the second was even more intense: a shot from midfield that David Marshall missed.
Scotland, who hosted Hampden Park, used to play well, pressed, determined and dominated the game, but they lacked a striker like Schick.
“Masterpiece. How he saw it and executed it. Technique. Perfect. I never did it when I was still playing and I remember Clarence Seedorf having done it,” said former Czech Republic striker Jan Koller in response to Schick’s goal.
“It was the perfect start – clean sheets with two goals scored. We could have added more, although Tomas Vaclik made some fantastic saves. We showed a lot of teamwork today. It’s been a very satisfying start,” added Schick.
“It was great to see the ball go in – go in perfectly. I ran to celebrate with our fans. But Tomas Vaclik was phenomenal today – he helped us a lot. If Scotland scores one goal it will be a very nervous end.”
Not many know it. Patrick Schick is a 25-year-old forward and currently playing in Germany with Bayer Leverkusen, his past in Italy being a lesson.
Failed to go to Juventus, then getting kicked out by AS Roma
Monchi, Sevilla’s sporting director (and previously at Roma), saw Schick’s talent in 2017 when he was still playing at Sampdoria. Knowing Juventus withdrew from the hunt for the Sparta Prague academy product, Monchi immediately moved.
Schick was recruited by Roma on loan and a permanent option of 30 million euros. Monchi saw something special in Schick.
“I’ve been sporting director for 17 years and perhaps the surgery for (Patrik Schick’s transfer) is what I’m most proud of and satisfied with doing,” Monchi said at Schick’s presentation.
“Schick is one of the most potential young players in international football. We are happy that he chose Roma.”
Three years at Roma Schick’s career has had its ups and downs and he is still unable to compete with veteran striker Edin Dzeko. However, it was a lesson in the stages of his career until he was signed by RB Leipzig in 2019.
“Edin Dzeko told me that going to Leipzig would be a good decision,” said Schick of his former Roma team-mate.
“We both want to play, so there is a certain rivalry between us because only one striker can play,” explained Schick. “We are good friends because he speaks my language.”
Leipzig loaned him a season without making him permanent and he scored 10 goals in the first season. Not to Leipzig, Bayer Leverkusen signed him in 2020 and last season Schick scored 13 goals.
Schick is not a striker with 20 goals per season, but that aspect can still be developed. His playing style tends to be collective by prioritizing the needs of the team rather than personal achievements.
Schick often looks for space to launch attacks, making sacrifices in the defensive phase.
“I think he had to struggle a little bit at the start, but he is doing well, improving a lot in a number of areas and taking steps forward. Patrik works a lot for the team and always plays with a very high intensity,” said Simon Rolfes of Schick, Leverkusen sporting director. .
“He’s laid the physical foundations this season to really play well next season. There’s a lot more in him than he’s shown so far with us.”
It will be interesting to see how Schick helps the Czech Republic in Euro 2020, because Jaroslav Silhavy’s team will still face England and Croatia in the group stage.
