The World Cup means a lot to Lionel Messi

By db-admin

DBasia.news – The 2022 World Cup has meaning for Lionel Messi. He had intended to end his career in the biggest football tournament well.

Messi has confirmed that the tournament in Qatar will be his last World Cup. The age factor is the main consideration.

Messi has participated in the previous four editions of the World Cup. His best achievement was bringing the national team to the final in 2014 before being defeated by Germany.

Messi is determined to make amends for the failure. He considered this to be the best opportunity for Argentina to lift the championship trophy again.

“We are in a good moment as a team and as a group. But there are many strong teams who want the same as us,” Messi told DirecTV Sports.

“The World Cup is challenging because you have to give a lot to win.”

Argentina is in high confidence to compete in the World Cup. The success of winning the 2021 Copa America is their main capital.

Even so, Messi does not want the obligation to win trophies to burden his team. He also wants to enjoy every game in his last World Cup.

“I’ve been lucky enough to be in this World Cup at the age of 35. I feel great, both mentally and physically, better than last year after going through Covid,” he added.

“But you have to stay realistic.”
