Thiago Alcantara aims for trophies with Liverpool after the adaptation period
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Thiago Alcantara’s first season at Liverpool was not one to be remembered well. The Reds have played inconsistently, failed to win a trophy, and Thiago is still in the process of adapting.
Thiago (30 years old) is one of the names with a big profile in the 2020 summer transfer market. He is one of Europe’s top midfielders who has had great success at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.
No doubt the expectations pinned on him are quite visible from Liverpool fans. Moreover, last season the Brazilian midfielder has been injured and the difficulties of the corona virus pandemic.
All of this is a lesson for him. Now in a new season with a good start to Liverpool’s unbeaten run in the league, Thiago is looking to the experience position from last season to help in his evolutionary process.
The player, who was purchased for 25 million euros last season, made 30 appearances across all competitions. Thiago has played a part in Liverpool’s good start, which has won seven of a possible nine points from the first three Premier League games. Thiago also believes this season will be different for him at Liverpool.
“From the Premier League side, I have had a year to feel how competitive the game is and the pace of play. As always happens when you adapt, it’s been a good year but at the start I had some tough times,” said Thiago.
“I feel that I’ve got over it now and I’m looking forward to the season.”
Aiming for Trophy Success
Not unlike his time with Barcelona and Bayern Munich, Thiago is also targeting to win trophies with Liverpool, be it in the domestic arena or the Champions League.
“Well, I have the same feeling I have in every team I play in, which is to aim as high as possible,” added Thiago.
“That means winning every possible competition: the league, the Champions League and the cup competition too. That has always been the goal. I would say there is no difference between this year, last year and the previous one.”
“We want to win everything and have the hunger to not only win every competition but to win every game.”
Thiago’s evolution is a plus for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool squad, who only brought in Ibrahima Konate this summer. Liverpool’s midfield is still reinforced by the same names from Thiago, Fabinho, to Jordan Henderson, minus Georginio Wijnaldum who went to PSG.
