Thomas Muller denies that Bayern signs players to weaken rival team

DBasia.news – Bundesliga giant Bayern Munich is known as a club that likes to sabotage rival clubs in the league. Most recently, in the transfer market this summer, Bayern signed two RB Leipzig players, Dayot Upamecano and Marcel Sabitzer.
It is a fact that Bayern’s ‘hobby’ is to weaken rival teams by recruiting their best players. In recent years Bayern has done so. As is the case in 2021.
Bayern brought in three important figures from RB Leipzig which made them candidates for champions last season. They are Julian Nagelsmann (coach), Dayot Upamecano (central defender), and Marcel Sabitzer (midfielder).
If it’s true that Bayern’s intention to weaken the rival team then it has worked well. At the start of the 2021-2022 Bundesliga season, Bayern were unbeaten, while Leipzig had won just one of their first three matches.
Bayern’s allegation of undermining the strength of the rival team was commented on by Bayern striker Thomas Muller. The veteran German striker vehemently denied the accusations and gave an example of PSG’s case when recruiting Kylian Mbappe from rivals AS Monaco.
“Impossible. No club has an obligation to sell. Look at PSG and Mbappe. Like every club, we are looking for quality that fits our budget,” Muller said as quoted by Sport Bild.
“It’s normal to look at options in the same league. There are always heated debated transfers, and that’s a good thing.”
However, it is undeniable that most of Bayern’s transfers occur between fellow Bundesliga teams and they are the best players at their old club.
Before Upamecano, Sabitzer and Nagelsmann, Bayern had signed Manuel Neuer, Mario Gotze, Robert Lewandowski, Mats Hummels, Leon Goretzka, Niklas Sule, Sebastian Rudy and Benjamin Pavard.
This makes Bayern the dominant force in the Bundesliga and it is proven by the achievement of nine consecutive league titles.
