Thomas Tuchel admits he isn’t a good stratgist for Chelsea

DBasia.news – Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel, denied that he was the person behind the Blues’ strategy change when they challenged Malmo on Matchday 4 of the 2021-2022 Champions League, Wednesday (3/11). There was another figure who gave their advice.
Chelsea struggled to face Malmo’s resistance playing at home. Despite releasing 22 shots and keeping possession of the ball up to 73%, the Blues struggled to score goals.
A new goal was created in the 56th minute through Hakim Ziyech. Previously, Chelsea made an innovation by swapping Ziyech’s position with Callum Hudson-Odoi. Apparently, the strategy did not come from Tuchel’s mind.
“All praise deserves to be given to my assistant. He has the idea. We want to play with two wingers. Two players with right foot strength on the right side and two players with left foot strength on the left,” said Tuchel as reported by Football London.
“We are delighted to be able to squeeze into the empty space at Malmo’s backline,” added the former Paris Saint-Germain coach.
Another good tactic is to pull out Ziyech and Hudson-Odoi to be replaced with Ross Barkley and Christian Pulisic.
“We lost some important seconds because we changed the ball to the strongest foot. At that moment, the Malmo midfielder immediately closed the gap.”
“We believe maybe we could secure some important seconds. Situations like that can end with a goal. Finally, we can penetrate them. Praise deserves to be given to my assistant,” stated Tuchel.
Now, Chelsea is in second place in the standings with nine points from four matches. Romelu Lukaku and his team mates are three points adrift of Juventus who are at the top of Group H standings.
