Thomas Tuchel Comments on Raheem Sterling

DBasia.news – Raheem Sterling failed to achieve victory in his match with Chelsea. The 27-year-old player received comments from Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel.

Chelsea played their second pre-season match against Charlotte FC at the Bank of America Stadium, Thursday (21/7) morning WIB. The team from London had to lose on penalties after a 1-1 draw for 90 minutes.

Sterling was introduced early in the second half. At that time Chelsea were winning 1-0 through Christian Pulisic’s goal.

The entry of Sterling does not automatically make Chelsea’s front line increasingly sharp. Their goal was conceded in injury time through a Daniel Rios penalty.

In the penalty shootout, Sterling also contributed a goal when he became the fourth executor. But Chelsea still lost after Conor Gallagher failed to carry out his duties properly.

Tuchel admits Sterling’s performance has not been optimal. But he saw the positive side of the presence of the former Liverpool player.

“I saw four accelerations in the second half and they all came from Raheem. This is what he gives and there is no need for big doubts or big criticism (of his performance),” Tuchel said after the game.

“I didn’t see the performance of the front trio at their maximum today. But it doesn’t matter what I have in mind, the only thing that matters is what I see on the pitch.”

Tuchel is of course aware that he has to get Sterling to adjust to Chelsea’s style of play as quickly as possible. It is not impossible that his presence will have the same fate as Romelu Lukaku.
