Thomas Tuchel Tries a New Formation, Chelsea Prepares to Welcome Erling Haaland

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Chelsea’s summer transfer market has been relatively quiet so far following their spending on players last season. The Blues will only recruit players according to the team’s needs at a time when the club’s finances are also having an impact due to the corona virus pandemic.

One aspect that Chelsea want to improve is the front line. Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea did win the Champions League last season, and managed to finish in the top four which led to a Champions League ticket.

However, their taps on the front lines are worrying. Timo Werner was not sharp, Tammy Abraham rarely played, and so was Olivier Giroud until he was eventually sold to AC Milan. His departure leaves a place on the front lines.

One target entered the shot and continued to be associated with them. He is Borussia Dortmund striker from Norway, Erling Haaland. After releasing Jadon Sancho to Manchester United, Dortmund will not sell Haaland for less than 150 million euros.

Chelsea last season had signed big names with high prices such as Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell, Hakim Ziyech, Werner and Edouard Mendy. No doubt in the transfer market this summer they are not aggressively chasing players.

Not much is being targeted by Chelsea but Erling Haaland can be a priority. Last season Haaland scored 41 goals in 41 games for Dortmund and that has guaranteed at least 20 goals per season for his club.

According to reports Marca Tuchel is believed to be preparing a new formation for Chelsea, a tactic that could maximize Haaland’s talents if he joined the club in a 4-2-4 formation. In that scheme Haaland can partner with other strikers and is flanked by two attackers or attacking midfielders.

The two wingers could be Havertz, Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi or Christian Pulisic. While one striker tandem Haaland can be filled by Werner or Tammy Abraham (if not leaving).

Now the problem for Chelsea is Haaland’s high price. The London club at least had to sell some players to buy Haaland, especially with the FFP (Financial Fair Play) rules.
