Timo Werner Didn’t Become the Penalty Executor When Facing Spurs, Frank Lampard Revealed the Reason

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Chelsea manager Frank Lampard revealed the reason why Timo Werner did not take a penalty in the last 16 of the League Cup against Tottenham Hotspur, Wednesday (30/9).

The 1-1 draw forced the match to continue on penalties, but Lampard did not appoint Werner as one of the executors. Lampard said Werner had cramps.

“We looked tired at the end which is understandable considering where we are now. Timo Werner had a cramp at the end so he didn’t take a penalty,” said Lampard as quoted by Tribal Football, Wednesday (30/9).

The English manager added that he would like to see his team be more positive even without Werner. In his opinion, anything can happen on penalties, although of course his biggest wish is to stay in the competition.

“But there was a lot to like. We dominated the first half but the game changed, I’m happy,” he said.

“They played a long time in the second half, missed our pressure, a clear change in tactics from them and we need to improve. We can react better. If we get the second goal while on top and be more positive – it will come,” concluded the former England national team player.
