Timo Werner’s value decreases in 2 years
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Timo Werner’s story with Chelsea has entered its final episode. Chelsea have no objection if they have to give a big discount to RB Leipzig who want to bring Timo Werner home.
Initially, Timo Werner was a player who was expected to become a new goal machine for Chelsea. Moreover, after Eden Hazard’s departure to Real Madrid, the Blues struggled to find a sharp attacker.
Werner’s performance at RB Leipzig is also promising. The German player recorded 90 goals plus 40 assists in just 156 matches. His age of no more than 25 years at the time made Werner even more appealing.
Finally, Chelsea spent up to 53 million euros to bring Werner. The Blues won the competition with Liverpool who also wanted Werner’s services.
Werner also began to obtain the opportunity to spearhead Chelsea. However, the adaptation process appeared slow. Werner often missed opportunities to gain goals.
From 89 matches, Werner only scored 23 goals and 21 assists. Not surprisingly, Chelsea brought in another striker, Romelu Lukaku, although in the end also failed to become an answer.
Todd Boehly, who wanted to make an overhaul at Chelsea also put Werner in the selling list. The 26-year-old player was reportedly a target for Juventus.
However, in the end Werner will return to defend Leipzig. Interestingly, this time the German club only needed to spend 20 million euros. That means, in just two years, Werner’s value plummeted to 30 million euros or around Rp 454 billion.
“Chelsea and RB Leipzig have signed a contract for Timo Werner’s deal. All completed in the evening for a guaranteed fee of 20 million euros plus bonuses. Full agreement was reached over the weekend. Werner will undergo a medical today,” wrote transfer market expert, Fabrizio Romano on Twitter.
