Torino cancels signing Fares from Lazio due to severe knee injury

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Mohamed Fares is reported to have suffered a severe knee injury that kept him out for months, shortly after moving to Torino on loan from Lazio. He has not even had time to play for his new team. His season is certain to end, making Il Toro likely to return him to the Italian capital.

As reported by the Italian newspaper, Tuttosport, 25-year-old Algerian full back, Mohamed Fares is reported to have injured his right knee ligament due to a collision during a practice match that forced him to be out for months.

That means Fares’ season is over early and he won’t even be playing for Torino after being officially signed on loan from Lazio last week.

Given this situation, Il Toro does not plan to activate his purchase option of €6 million which is embedded in his loan contract, meaning he will return to Rome at the end of this season.

The Algerian full back has suffered some serious injuries in the past. He has even missed 11 games for Genoa this season with a muscle injury and missed 178 days while still with SPAL in the 2019 season after suffering a cruciate ligament injury.

While defending the Biancocelesti the player also was unable to show his maximum appearance. The full defender also only made 21 appearances in the era of coach Simone Inzaghi in the 2020/21 season.
