Tottenham Hotspur aren’t ready to win the Premier League title

DBasia.news – Tottenham Hotspur must accept their second defeat in the Premier League 2022-2023. After losing to city rivals Arsenal, Tottenham lost to competitors for a place in the top four, aka the Champions League zone, Manchester United.

Playing at Old Trafford on week 12 of the Premier League, Thursday (20/11), Tottenham lost 0-2 through goals from Fred and Bruno Fernandes. The course of the match also showed Tottenham’s helplessness.

Tottenham had only 48% of possession, having 2 shots on target and 9, compared to Man United who had 28 attempted shots and 10 were on target.

Judging from the standings Tottenham are still in the race for the league title, they are in third place with 23 points from 11 matches and 4 points adrift of Arsenal who have only played 10 times and are behind Manchester City.

But defeats to Man United, as well as to Arsenal before that, showed Tottenham were not ready to play against the Premier League’s top six teams and compete for the league title. Tottenham manager, Antonio Conte confirmed it.

“Sometimes I hear that we are title contenders and I think we need time,” Conte said as quoted by Standard Sports.

“In just 10 or 11 months you can’t get past ninth to be a title contender a year after, especially when you finish 20 points less than the monsters in England.”

The last time Tottenham won the league title was in 1960-1961 when the league was not yet called the Premier League, and the last time they won the trophy occurred in 2007-2008 in the League Cup.

Antonio Conte has a lot of experience winning league titles with Juventus, Chelsea and Inter Milan. If he thinks Tottenham are not ready and need some time before winning the Premier League title, then he is speaking facts.
