Tottenham Hotspur Officially Dismissed the Manager Mauricio Pochettino
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Due to a series of poor results achieved by Tottenham Hotspur this season, the team’s management officially decided to fire Mauricio Pochettino from his position as team manager, on Wednesday (11/20).
Tottenham Hotspur’s performance this season is indeed far from good. In the Premier League, Harry Kane and his friends only finished 14th in the standings with 14 points.
Of the 12 matches that have been held, Tottenham won three wins, five draws, plus four defeats. Meanwhile, in the Champions League, The Lilywhites collected two wins, one draw and one loss in the group stage.
These results led Tottenham’s owner Daniel Levy to fire Pochettino along with his staff, Jesus Perez, Miguel D’Agostino, and Antoni Jimenez. The manager’s five-year journey ended.
“We are very reluctant to make these changes. That is a decision we take slowly, not in a hurry,” Daniel Levy said as reported by Tottenham’s official website.
“It is the responsibility of the board to make difficult decisions. This decision is not easy given there are many unforgettable moments that we have with Pochettino and his staff. However, this is in the best interest of the club.”
“Mauricio Pochettino and his coaching staff will always be a part of Tottenham’s history. I really admire the way he faced difficult situations when he couldn’t play at home,” he continued.
In fact, last season, Mauricio Pochettino almost won the first title with Tottenham. However, the 47-year manager failed to bring Tottenham beat Liverpool in the Champions League final.
“We want to thank him and the coaching staff for all that has been given. They will always be welcome here,” said Daniel Levy.
“We have talented troops. We need to re-energize and provide positive results for supporters.”
Daniel Levy is rumored to be soon making a decision regarding Maurizio Pochettino’s successor. Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho has emerged as the strongest candidate to succeed.
