Tottenham Hotspur Will Break Great Britain’s Transfer Record
By db-admin
DBasia.news – Tottenham Hotspur will pay a ransom of up to 250,000 pounds to sign Beth England from Chelsea.
The 28-year-old player has said goodbye to his Chelsea team-mates following his side’s Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain as he prepares to complete his move to Spurs.
The transfer would break the British record set by Lauren James when he joined Chelsea from Manchester United in 2021.
Keira Walsh still holds the record for the most expensive English player, having left Manchester City to join Barcelona in a 400,000 pound deal.
This move made sense for both parties, but was still a bit of a shock. The Spurs have struggled a bit to score in the WSL this season and the arrival of the forward will go a long way in overcoming that.
Meanwhile, Beth has been on the sidelines at Chelsea for some time and with the World Cup approaching in the summer, she needs a number of games to confirm her place in Sarina Wiegman’s squad, writes GOAL Assistant Editor Matt O’Connor-Simpson.
The Spurs’ next match will be against Aston Villa in the Women’s Super League on January 14, 2023.
