Treating the Disappointment, Griezmann: World Cup over Ballon d’Or

Antoine Griezmann wrote a golden achievement in 2018. Besides winning the 2018 World Cup with France national team, he also achieved the Europa League title with Atletico Madrid.

However, all of these achievements are not enough to make sure Griezmann would be the best in 2018 Ballon d’Or. Griezmann is the third winner behind Luka Modric and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“I am very happy with my year 2018. I won the Europa League, I won the Super Cup and the World Cup so it’s a great year,” Griezmann said as cited by Soccerway.

Despite the snub, Griezmann insisted to come. “A little disappointed (to miss out on the Ballon d’Or) but it was a big night to celebrate the winners so I had to be there,” the player explained.

Griezmann believes that he would win the Ballon d’Or title in the future. “I think if I keep working the way I am, why not? But I’m on the right track, I’ve claimed two podiums so we have to keep going like this,” Griezmann said.

Between the choice of Ballon d’Or and World Cup, Griezmann loudly said: “The World Cup!”

Meanwhile, Griezmann thinks Luka Modric deserves the title, considering his achievement throughout 2018.

“It’s earned. He had a great season. He won the Champions League,” Griezmann added.
