Tuchel and Ancelotti’s rivalry meets a new chapter
By db-admin
DBasia.news – The position of the top four is not the only title for Chelsea’s duel against Everton in the 2020-2021 Premier League. This match is also a new chapter of rivalry between Thomas Tuchel and Carlo Ancelotti.
The match which will take place at Stamford, Bridge, Tuesday (9/3) at 01.00 WIB, it’s not the first time for Tuchel and Ancelotti to meet on the sidelines. The two of them have recorded six tactical clashes in a match.
Interestingly, Tuchel and Ancelotti were able to beat each other from these six meetings. Both have a record of two wins, two draws and two defeats.
The two tacticians always defeated each other in the first four meetings. That moment happened in Germany when Tuchel took charge of Borussia Dortmund and Ancelotti led Bayern Munich.
Ancelotti was able to beat Tuchel in their first meeting in the 2016 German Super Cup. Munich won 2-0.
But Tuchel immediately avenged the defeat when they first met in the eleventh week of the 2016-2017 Bundesliga. Dortmund won 1-0 through a single goal from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Ancelotti managed to avenge the defeat when they turned to host Dortmund in the 28th week. He brought Munich to a landslide win with a score of 4-1.
The last meeting of the two on German soil occurred in the semi-finals of the DFB Pokal in the same season. This time Dortmund came out as winners with a score of 3-2 to move to the final until finally becoming champions.
Continuing in the Champions League
Their rivalry was stopped for one season. Tuchel met again in the 2018-2019 season in the Champions League with a different club.
Tuchel at that time handled Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), while Ancelotti coached Napoli. The two teams were joined in the same group in the elite European club competition.
Of the two meetings, Tuchel and Ancelotti failed to present a victory for their respective teams. They only drew 2-2 and 1-1.
Tuchel and Ancelotti are certainly familiar with each other’s strengths and weaknesses. This condition will certainly make the Chelsea vs Everton duel unmissable.
