DBasia.news – Chelsea coach, Thomas Tuchel revealed the condition of Romelu Lukaku and Ben Chilwell ahead of the match against Manchester United in the 2021-2022 Premier League, at Stamford Bridge Stadium, Sunday (28/11). According to Tuchel, the conditions of the two players are different.
Chelsea has a mission to maintain themselves to be on top of the standings. Currently, the Blues are three points ahead of second place, Manchester City.
The Blues have good capital ahead of the game. Previously, Chelsea managed to defeat Juventus four goals without reply. In addition, Chelsea were also unbeaten in their last six Premier League matches.
However, Chelsea has also encounter hurdles. The condition of their main spearhead, Romelu Lukaku, is still uncertain.
Even though he has started training, Lukaku’s fitness is not 100%. Tuchel doesn’t want to take the risk as Lukaku could be out for longer if forced.
“There is a difference between being ready to train and ready to compete. In addition, there is also a difference between being ready to play and ready to play in the Premier League. Those are two different things,” said Tuchel as reported by Metro.
“We only had three substitutions. The chances of Lukaku going through the early minutes would be high because we can’t say for sure what happened in the middle of the game.”
“So, we have to find a balance between giving the opportunity to appear or playing competitively for 90 minutes,” added the former Paris Saint-Germain coach.
Meanwhile, Ben Chilwell’s condition is much clearer. The defender is expected to be out for some time.
“Chilwell is out. He has a laceration to the ACL. The decision is to treat him conservatively,” Tuchel stated.
