Two Liverpool Players Make Blunder Ending in Arsenal’s Victory

DBasia.news – Liverpool was defeated 1-2 from Arsenal in the 36th week of the Premier League which was held at the Emirates Stadium on Thursday (07/16). The defeat was caused by blunders of The Reds defense players.
Had led from Sadio Mane’s goal in 20th minute, Liverpool made two mistakes that led to the home team’s goal in minute 32 (which was scored by Alexandre Lacazette) and also in minute 44 (scored by Reiss Nelson).
As a result, Liverpool – who have become the Premier League champions – swallowed the third defeat this season after losing to Watford and Manchester City. While Arsenal are still at number nine on the standings with collection of 53 points.
The first blunder was made by Liverpool central defender Virgil van Dijk. The defender with £75 million tag sent a weak backpass to Alisson making the ball stolen by Lacazette. The French striker then tricked Alisson before scoring.
Even so for Arsenal’s second goal. Alisson was not perfectly passed the ball making the ball stolen by Arsenal player and Nelson executed the opportunity with goal. It was Nelson’s first goal in the Premier League and made him the fifth Arsenal player aged 20 or younger to score in the Premier League.
Added by Squawka, the error which resulted from Van Dijk’s goal was the first mistake he made in the Premier League this season. The Dutch player blunder was the second he has done since joining Liverpool in January 2018.
Still from the same source, since the start of the 2016-17 Premier League season Alisson has made more errors which led to opponents’ goals (four times), surpassing Simon Mignolet (three times) and Loris Karius (twice).
“Our (Arsenal) goals gave them as prizes. Until their first goal was fully ours, we gave them two goals and it was difficult to return. We got the rewards,” Van Dijk told Sky Sports.
“Until then there was nothing wrong, we played very well. So it’s easy to blame us for winning the title, but until I make a mistake there is nothing wrong.”
While Jurgen Klopp simply answered the defeat: accept defeat and learn from it.
“Virg lost the ball, but I don’t see much to offer around him. No one really wants the ball,” Klopp said.
“Overall we took a break and it didn’t make sense. And Arsenal were there. We had to accept that defeat and learn from it,” he explained.
