DBasia.news – A surprise was made by AC Milan ahead of the match against Atalanta in the continued 2020-2021 Serie A at the San Siro, Sunday (24/1) at 00.00 WIB. The Rossoneri have the chance to make their debuts to two of their new players in this tie.
As is known, Milan had just announced the arrival of two new players in the winter transfer market this January. Both are Mario Mandzukic and Fikayo Tomori.
Mandzukic was introduced as a new Milan player earlier this week. He was signed for six months after being without a club since March last year.
Milan then announced Tomori’s arrival the day before the match against Atalanta. The 23 yea old defender is on loan from Chelsea with a permanent purchase option at the end of the season.
Even though they have just joined, Milan seem to want to immediately maximize the role of both players. Mandzukic and Tomori seemed to not have been given time to undergo a period of adaptation.
However, it becomes understandable considering the importance of the match against Atalanta. Milan must win to maintain its position at the top of the standings.
Moreover, Milan will appear without several key players due to injury. Hakan Calhanoglu is still positive for COVID-19, while Ismael Bennacer and Matteo Gabbia are injured.
Milan’s options are increasingly limited because Alessio Romagnoli and Alexis Saelemaekers are suspended. Naturally, they are quite active in the transfer market.
The opportunity for Mandzukic and Tomori to appear against Atalanta is quite open even though they may have to start from the bench. The same has been experienced by another new Milan signing, Soualiho Meite.
Meite already made his debut when Milan defeated Cagliari with a score of 2-0, the middle of last week. He entered the 72nd minute to replace Sandro Tonali.
