DBasia.news – Unai Emery prioritizes to sign the defender for Arsenal on January 2019 during the winter transfer market. However, Emery won’t dream too high because it’s not easy to sign a new player during the winter transfer market.

Unai Emery has a limited option in the defensive line after Rob Holding got a knee injury last week. He might absent for 9 months considering the problem in his anterior cruciate ligament against Manchester United.

Meanwhile, the experienced player like Laurent Koscielny just returned on the pitch against Qarabag on Thursday (13/12). Emery said he won’t take the decision regarding him recklessly.

The duet of key players in the center-back position, Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Shkodran Mustafi, couldn’t play in the match against Southampton last weekend. Both players are under the accumulative punishment of yellow cards after the victory against Huddersfield. Meanwhile, Konstantinos Mavropanos couldn’t play throughout the season due to a thihg injury.

Regarding this situation, Emery indicates Arsenal need a new defender. “I think if we can take one player to help us at center-back, I think it’s a good option. The transfer (window) is not easy,” Emery said cited by Soccerway.

It’s rumored Arsenal are eyeing Juventus defender, Medhi Benatia. The Moroccan player didn’t get the chance to play in Massimiliano Allegri squad.

Arsenal played against Qarabag in the final matchday of Group E of 2018-2019 Europa League at Emirates Stadium, Friday (14/12). In the first match, The Gunners won three goals.
