Unai Emery is still curious about the Premier League

DBasia.news – There is surprising news from the Premier League. Aston Villa have immediately looked for a replacement after sacking Steven Gerrard. Villa’s quick move was able to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers who still don’t have a new coach after firing Bruno Lage.
The coach appointed by Villa as a replacement for Gerrard is Unai Emery. The Spanish tactician, according to Fabrizio Romano, will be paid 7 million euros per year and Villa redeemed his buyout clause from Villarreal, with a price tag of 6 million euros.
“Aston Villa are delighted to announce the appointment of Unai Emery as the club’s new head coach,” read a statement from Villa’s official website.
“Unai joins from Villarreal, who he led to Europa League success by beating Manchester United in the final in 2021 as well as the semi-finals of the Champions League last season.”
“A highly experienced top-level coach who has managed over 900 games, Unai has also previously coached in the Premier League with Arsenal, leading the Gunners to the Europa League final.”
Regarding Unai Emery’s experience, he has had it from his time in charge of Almeria, Valencia, Spartak Moscow, Sevilla, PSG, Arsenal and Villarreal. Emery is also known as the King of the Europa League for having won it four times.
One thing that is quite interesting is that Emery should not be in a depressed situation at Villarreal. The club is also in seventh place in the standings and can still reach the Champions League zone, plus has a strong defense.
At the beginning of last September, according to Squawka, Villarreal were the only team in Europe’s top five leagues not to concede a single goal: four games, three wins, one draw and nine goals scored.
It is understandable that Emery was unable to do much as Villa redeemed his buyout clause from Villarreal. But Emery’s return to the Premier League will be interesting, as he has unfinished business in England.
Emery coached Arsenal in mid 2018-2019 replacing Arsene Wenger, but he was firedd despite successfully leading the club to the Europa League final and was replaced by Mikel Arteta. Together with Villa, it can be an opportunity for Emery to show that he is not a ‘failed’ coach.
