DBasia.news – Unai Emery, Arsenal manager, finally spoke about the situation experienced by the 33-year-old team captain, Laurent Koscielny. Emery confirmed that the problem was now fully handled by Arsenal.
As is known, Koscielny was absent from Arsenal’s training session and did not join the squad on the preseason tour. That was very surprising considering his status as a senior player and team captain. The French defender was rumored to leave this summer.
Emery, who spoke after Arsenal won 3-0 against the Colorado Rapids in a preseason test match, claimed to have spoken to Koscielny. He hopes there is the best solution between Koscielny and Arsenal in overcoming the problem.
“He (Koscielny) has started training with us at this preseason and I have spoken to him three times regarding the situation. We want him to join us on the tour, but he decided to stay. Now this is a problem for clubs and players,” Emery said at the Mirror.
“He still has a year left on his contract. For me as a coach he is an important player. Now the problem is with the club and himself.”
“He and The club must speak, they are talking about this situation. I cannot say more than that. I spoke to him before coming here and he decided to stay there.”
“We have spoken with great enthusiasm for the team and himself, but this is his decision, only his decision. He only spoke to the club. I really can’t say more. For me, now it’s clear we have to keep going.”
“We are here with players who have the passion to create a new path. Laurent Koscielny for me, now, I look forward to his decision with the club,” concluded Emery.
