DBasia.news – Unai Emery predicts the title race for the top-four Premier League or Champions League zone would be tight. The Arsenal manager considers the victory of Manchester United and Chelsea.
Arsenal failed to achieve the point after defeated by West Ham United 1-0 on the 22nd-week of Premier League at London Stadium, Saturday (12/1). The Hammers won by the only goal from Declan Rice at 48′.
The situation makes Arsenal’s position is getting more difficult. So far, The Gunners have the same point achievement as Manchester United who are in the sixth position of the temporary table. Meanwhile, Chelsea who are in the fourth position could go further with six points gap.
Emery asked his squad to be back on the winning track on the upcoming match against Chelsea. The Spaniard manager thinks Arsenal must be more confident.
“Now it’s more difficult, it’s clear. I think the most important thing for us is to recover our confidence and be more competitive. We need consistency over 38 matches,” Emery said cited by Soccerway.
“Now it isn’t enough at the moment. It’s a bad result. If we can win we are playing against Chelsea (on Saturday) with a three-point maximum distance,” Emery explained.
“The big opportunity for us is that we can take in our hands the possibility to be closer to them. This result makes that more difficult,” he added.
Arsenal often face the difficulty when playing in the away match of Premier League. From five recent away matches, The Gunners only gained one victory.
“It’s our challenge. Each match is our challenge away. We are working on that,” Emery explained.
“Like here (at West Ham), for example, they are with their supporters they feel good and strong and can push. We need to take more confidence, more performance collectively, being competitive away to change this moment.”
