Unsuccessful Penalty, Augsburg Striker Blamed Stadium’s ‘Ghost’ Atmosphere

By db-admin

DBasia.news – Augsburg striker Florian Niederlechner said the absence of supporters caused his failure to execute a penalty when his team drew 1-1 against Cologne.

Niederlechner became a penalty executioner in the 27th minute, but his execution was saved by Timo Horn, in the continued Bundesliga this season which was held without spectators at Munggi (7/6) yesterday.

The 29-year-old player was horrified by the ‘ghost’ atmosphere at the Augsburg Arena, caused him to be influenced and failed to score.

“I made the biggest mistake you could make as a penalty taker. A bad ghost match,” Niederlechner said after the match.

When Niederlechner prepared to kick the penalty, a Koln player approached the Horn goalkeeper and said that the Augsburg striker was fond of firing into the right corner of the goal.

After seeing the two opposing players discuss, Niederlechner chose to release the kick in the opposite direction, but Horn still managed to save the ball.

Three points would be crucial for Augsburg, but in the end they were only able to secure one point shortly after Anthony Modeste put Koln ahead in the 85th minute.

Phillip Max saved the face of the home team a few moments later, with that one extra point Augsburg now moved away from the relegation zone.
