Valverde: There is No Connection with Liverpool

DBasia.news – Barcelona coach, Ernesto Valverde, rejected the assumption that his players were psychologically injured by their defeat from Liverpool in the Champions League.
The 0-4 defeat in the UCL semi-final second leg seems to still be ringing in the mind of the Barca squad when playing the Copa del Rey final. Captain Lionel Messi also admitted that in this situation it was “difficult to get back up”.
The defeat continued when they were beaten 2-1 by Valencia to end the season only with a La Liga title even though, a month ago, they had hopes of reaching the treble.
Valverde, who insisted that he is ready to fight next season, despite speculation about his dismissal, said the match at Anfield was not responsible for their defeat at the Estadio Benito Villamarin.
“We lost, but not because of psychological problems,” he said.
“This is different from the game we played two weeks ago, but continued to lose, that’s the reality.”
“We have not been able to meet our own expectations: we celebrated the league title, we think we can win the triplet and we still have a chance at the decisive moment in the Champions League and in the Copa del Rey,” he said.
